I noticed a big difference between the headline at the Washington Post’s website: Bush Nominates Indian Affairs Leader
And the one that was in today’s paper-y edition, which reads: Bush Nominates Bureau of Indian Affairs Chief
It’s a harmless correction, but I wonder if someone objected to use of the word “chief” in this context. It just struck me as odd, is all. I came across the article today (8/3/06, A4) and thought it was kind of funny, but when I tried to find the online version to e-mail, they had changed it.
I never sat down to think about it, but I wonder how much of our news is being silently massaged. Crom knows I re-edit my own posts for style and grammar.
