Yeee-haaaa!

OK, enough of that. Just a couple of links for my reference, you may or may not be interested:

What do you get when you cross the Public Library of Science with YouTube? SciVee! Watch young researchers nervously read through their PowerPoint presentations on the structural evolution of protein kinases! I’m kidding, he really did a good job, if you’re into the topic.

Next, a do-it-yourself blog: Home Addition. Over the holiday break, I plan on installing a runner for my stairs. I’m not as ambitious as Monika, but who is, really?

Creepy manga story (translated). Very Japanese. (Well, duh, you say, it was made by Japanese artists in a Japanese format…I just meant the style of horror story, people compelled to destruction by forces beyond their control and a society helpless to do anything…it sounds familiar.)

They made a movie about F. Paul Wilson’s vampire book, Midnight Mass. It actually predates the book by a year, but it is very obviously Wilson’s story. Weird. Previous link aside, I’m not generally a horror fan, but I like Wilson’s Repairman Jack books.

I am not a fan of vampire stories, in general, but the cover synopsis gave it a Matheson feel that held up pretty well in the story. Wilson, if anything, is a solid writer who knows his genre well. This also reminds me that, given the coming movie, I bet they have paperbacks of I Am Legend out in bookstores now. I never read it, but I have a copy of The Last Man on Earth on DVD, which I’ve often used the formula Vincent Price + crap = (watchable)2/pi

And, no, I don’t know what that means. I’m an enigma unto myself.

And to add to this collection of randomly firing synapses, for some reason, I want to shop here the next time I’m in Manhattan.

That’s it.
