Here’s a quick collection of links for the daydreamer. I was inspired by an episode of This Old House I saw over the weekend to dream about a family’s timber-framed dreamhome. I love my home, but I need it to be a hair (defined as about 400 square feet, which would move us to about 1600 square feet) larger — but not huge, just enough that we have space for both kids (and their junk). Once Ben gets old enough to sit at the table we can no longer eat in the kitchen. I’d also love a mudroom and an upstairs laundry. Ahh, to dream…

A nice set of designs. I love old homes, such as my current abode, but someplace a hair bigger, made of newer, more efficient materials, would be nice.
General inspiration. I noticed that many of the designs posted offer little to no privacy, which might be nice if you have an isolated plot of land somewhere or are an exhibitionist.

More inspiration. One solution to moving or adding on would to build an office/playroom in the backyard. Bathrooms would be an issue/expense, though.
If I owned an open, wooded lot away from town, I’d build a compound of domes.
