What Warren Ellis doesn’t tell you about Leverage is…

…that it stars Timothy Hutton, who deserves my undying gratitude for (ever so briefly) bringing Nero Wolfe to the small screen in such an uncompromising and unconventional (an ensemble cast!?!) fashion.

Here’s his take on Leverage:

It’s all pretty tongue-in-cheek stuff — although I think the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE-inspired theme music is maybe one put-on too far — but it never loses sight of its simple aim, which is to entertain the shit out of you for an hour. It doesn’t sentimentalise, it doesn’t fall into the usual American tv trope of making it all about family, it doesn’t treat you like you’re stupid and it offers you no platitudes. It just asks you to go along with the ride. And the funniest thing, to me, is that the ending sets up the cast as a team of criminal Equalizers. Hence the title. “We provide… leverage.”

Leverage comes on TNT this December…which means I’ll see it in about a year or two once it goes on Netflix…or sooner if some helpful fellow throws up a torrent.

    Hear! Hear!

Timothy Hutton has my undying graditude as well for bringing “Nero Wolfe” to TV, too. His Archie Goodwin is unsurpassed.

Gotta say that “Leverage” sounds like a winner – looking forward to the premiere and a long run of the series.

Which commercial Kesha? The music on the videos I’ve seen don’t really pop out at me.

I will say, I’m not looking forward to Christian Kane. I always thought he was a bit of a meathead on Angel.
